![]() I did a lot of exploring and "optional" stuff (meaning I didn't just follow the orb around) I went where I wanted and just let the orb do its own thing for the most part. I'm no developer, but I can't possibly imagine how it took that long, unless their development team is like 2 people who had to double as voice actors. By the time I started to get a solid understanding of what had happened, I had stopped caring and just wanted to see the ending.ĮDIT: I read somewhere that it took 3 years to make this game. So it's not like you can't do worse - but you can sure as hell do better with a good book. And the ending itself is a confusing hodgepodge of self-important mumbo-jumbo. Near the end you'll learn a bit more about the aforementioned "end-of-the-world"-esque storyline, but it's dribbled out in such a piecemeal, non-linear fashion, with so many unnecessary lines of filler dialogue that you'll just be relieved it's over by the end. Most of the first half of the game is "who's cheating on who", "who wants babies but the significant other doesn't", "who needs to make up with estranged family members" etc. There's a sorta-decent but not terribly original end-of-the-world story in there somewhere, buried under layers and layers of regular old human drama. Surprised at the, pardon the pun, rapturous reviews. Not really sure it's worth £15.99 (or £12.79 at PS+ price), more like £7.99. Right to the end it remains incredibly vague and I was left more frustrated than intrigued.ĮDIT: As others have also mentioned, the frame-rate is frequently garbage, especially when turning around. It might be more involving if we could see the characters beyond them just being golden coloured shapes Using the motion control to access some orbs is clunky and feels totally unnecessary It would fly somewhere, you'd get there, then it would fly back in your face and fly somewhere else. ![]() Overt name-dropping between characters to make it clear to the player who was talking to who. By the time someone said "they keep saying it's flu" for the 50th time, I wanted to jam sharp objects in my ears. ![]() Who wants to hear about hoover bags?Ī lot of repetitious dialogue. Some of the dialogue is horrendously dull. Walking speed even with R2 held down is pure agony, makes the game feel like a slog and has clearly been done to make the game feel longer. The graphics, or rather, the general art style is great, especially later in the game. I have also played Dear Esther and liked it.
